Longhorns’ soaring hopes came crashing to earth on Friday after a storybook season in golf, track and field, softball and baseball. For complete details, see Sports on 1B.

Here’s a summary of the results:

• Sprinter Morgan Chilson wins gold medals in 100 and 200 meters at Mesa College.

• Dean Harpe finishes sixth in golf finals at Antelope Hills. Team also sixth in final standings.

• Baseball team falls 13-3 to Empire at Surprise Stadium, but finishes among state’s top four.

• No. 2 seeded Lady Horns softball team loses 14-4 to Winslow at Rose Mofford Complex, but wraps up the season 29-5.
