Don’T Sell Frontier Elementary

Thank you, Tom Garrett, for your letter objecting to the sale of Frontier Elementary School.

I wish some of the many people who agree would write to the Roundup.

There’s a good case that this action by the school board is not legal; it is certainly foolish.

Tom hopes “we could somehow cause the board to rethink the sale of Frontier.”

How about a lawsuit, folks, on behalf of the taxpayers whose millions of dollars are being thrown away? Do you think that would cause the board to rethink?

The religious outfit that wants to buy it may not be a “competing school” but they’re shrewd enough to know a screamin’ deal when they see it. I’d advise them to change tactics, offer to lease it, and thus head off a growing stampede of very bad P.R.

I don't know about the legalities, but I think it was very shortsighted of the school board to sell FES. If they come back in 5 or 10 years asking for a bond for new school, I will be bringing this up as I oppose a new bond for school construction.

What rational was used to convince the citizens that it was a good idea to sell this school? Who was the brain behind this one?
