Many Made Race A Success

Editor:

On Saturday, May 4, the Second Annual “Embrace Your Inner Geek” 10K and 5K races were held at Green Valley Park, co-sponsored by the Payson Association for Advanced Learners (PAAL), the Payson Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department and the Payson Unified School District (PUSD).

On behalf of PAAL, I would like to thank the following race sponsors who demonstrate their support of our Rim Country schools:

Our title sponsor, Chili’s, Anytime Fitness, Payson Roundup and Payson Dealz, Kevin Dick Investments, Payson Regional Medical Center, Gila Community College, Charles M Beier, DDS Family Dentistry, McKenna Construction, Long Valley Café, High Desert Dentistry, Printing by George, Payson Safeway, Little Stinker, Tonto Silkscreen, “Fred the DJ,” Club USA, Payson Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department and PUSD.

The races would not have been possible without the support of many volunteers, including the Payson Area Advisory Youth Council (PAAYC), Payson High School Student Government Organization (STUGO) and Payson High School Academic Decathlon (AcaDec) groups, who staffed the majority of our water stations with enthusiasm.

Our other race volunteers included Dusty Miller, Ruth Schouten, Bob Charameda, Brooke and Kayla from Anytime Fitness, Shawn Thomas, Ashley Mann, Evelyn Christian, John Wakelin, Mike Behrens, Larry Hoffenberger, Wayne Donnay, Ron Ghera, Cherie and Ian Roberts, Sherree Newhouse, Ken Shepherd, Devin Wala, Bill Bihlman, Wayne Donnay, Juli Davis, Kristi Kisler, Laurel Wala, Amy Beier and Denise McGuire.

We were able to raise more than $2,100 to continue to support advanced learning opportunities for our Rim Country school children.

Thank you, Payson!

Mary McMullen, PAAL
