The Fifth Annual Mountain High Games are the Rim Country’s most family-friendly celebration of its great outdoor opportunities.

This year the event is a three-day funfest, May 31 through June 2, featuring four highly competitive, yet entertaining contests for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels.

Payson’s Mountain High Games are the Southwest’s largest celebration of adventure sports combined with ATV trail rides and an outdoor expo.

“This is the Fifth Annual Mountain High Games,” said Cameron Davis, director of the Payson Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department, which organizes the festivities. “We have learned many things over the last several years and we believe this will be the most successful event to date. With the pre-registrations we have already received we are expecting contestant numbers to be well over 500 this year.”

This year’s sporting events include The Mogollon Monster Mudder (5K mud run), an archery competition, ATV trail rides, and an old-fashioned horseshoe tournament.

The event has been sanctioned by the Arizona Office of Tourism and is an official KMLE 107.9 and KMOG 1420 AM event.

The venue for this event is the Payson Event Center, located at the south end of town, directly across the highway from the Mazatzal Hotel & Casino. The Tonto Apache Tribe has graciously agreed to allow Mountain High participants and guests to park on a portion of its sovereign land. Due to the expected crowd, parking close to the Payson Event Center will be limited and special areas in the vicinity of the venue have been made available for vehicles (a map designating these areas is in this publication).

“Without our awesome co-title sponsors, Rim Country Powersports and Native Air, and the other many corporate and banner sponsors, we could not put on an event like this. We are very grateful for this community and the generosity that our local businesses exhibit to help make these events happen. I can’t say enough about our local businesses. They are just fantastic people!” Davis said.
