Usually the Payson Men’s Golf Association weekly tournaments tee off on Wednesday mornings.
But in an effort to provide play for those members who work and cannot play on Wednesdays, the PMGA now hosts Saturday tournaments.
On Saturday, May 18, members met at Payson Golf Course for an individual, low-net formatted shoot-out.
In it, Terry Lindsey emerged victorious with a card of 63. Lindsey also pocketed closest-to-the-pin prize money on No. 17, where his tee shot rolled to within 17 feet, 5-1/2 inches of the flag.
Russ Morris was also a double winner, taking second in the tournament with a 65 and garnering closest-to-the-pin honors on No. 5 with a lie of 7 feet, 6 inches.
John Calderwood was shutout in the battle for closest-to-the-pin prize money, but did finish third in the tournament with a card of 66.
Ed Bossert managed CTP laurels on No. 8 at 8 feet, 7 inches and Popeye Clay was closest on No. 14 at 8 feet, 6-1/2 inches.
PMGA members return to PGC on June 5 for a “4-Man team, ABCD Computer Pick; 3 Best Balls” formatted tournament.
