Down the Street Art Gallery

First Friday Nov. 1 Down the Street Art Gallery will be featuring their newest member, photographer Shiranda Deerwoman, plus the annual tribute to “Day of the Dead.”

The event is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 703 W. Main St., Payson.

Spaghetti dinner and cookbook sale

The Community Presbyterian Child Learning Center’s Pre-Kindergarten class is hosting a spaghetti dinner and cookbook sale from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 1.

The event is to raise money to help the less fortunate children of Payson at Christmas.

Dinner includes spaghetti, salad, roll, dessert and drink for $5 a plate. Cookbooks will sell for $5 each. The Community Presbyterian Church Performance Music Committee will provide entertainment.

The Community Presbyterian Church is at 800 W. Main St., Payson.

Community Presbyterian Church

The Community Presbyterian Church will have live music from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with guitarist and vocalist Joanie Smith, vocalist Colleen Brown, guitarist Howard Brown and drummer Gerry Reynolds.

John Carpino

Singer/songwriter John Carpino will perform from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, Nov. 1 at Cardo’s Italian Restaurant, 203 E. Highway 260, Payson. More information is available at www.johncarpino.com.

Native American Flute Circle

The area’s Native American Flute Circle meets at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 3 in the community room behind the Majestic Mountain Inn, Highway 260. A donation of $1 per person is requested. Salvation Army Bell Ringers potluck

A potluck will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, Nov. 1 at the Nazarene Church, Tyler Parkway and Highway 87, Payson.

Family Movie Night

The congregation of Shepherd of The Pines Lutheran church, 507 W. Wade Lane, Payson, invites Rim residents to attend a Family Movie Night at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at the church. The event is free and refreshments will be available.

Holiday Craft Bazaar

The Holiday Craft Bazaar will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2 at Messinger Community Room, 901 S. Westerly Road. Beautiful, handmade crafts and homemade goodies will be available for holiday gift giving. This event is sponsored by the Mazatzal Optimist Club.

Brush pit schedule

This coming weekend, the Regional Payson Area Project… for a Fire Wise Rim Country (RPAP) will be staffing free brush drop-off points at the following locations, weather permitting:

Saturday, Nov. 2 the Blattner Pit will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Blattner Pit is located at Milepost 259.7 on Highway 260, east of Payson.

Sunday, Nov. 3 the Pine Pit will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Pine Pit is located .7 of a mile east of Highway 87 on Control Road, south of Pine.

Business Showcase

The Payson Living Word Bible Church, 208 S. McLane Road, will host a Business Showcase from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2.

Scheduled to participate: artisans with handmade crafts, Dynamite Sports/Dance Studio, Massawraps, Pampered Chef, Avon, Origami Owl, Rim Country Insurance and Covenant Carpet Cleaning. Scoops and KRIM will also be on hand. There will also be wood bundles for sale, popcorn and craft projects for children.

Chair auction

The Payson Community Kids (PCK) is wrapping up its Chair-ish Payson’s Kids 1st Annual Fun Furniture Fundraiser this weekend.

More than 50 local artists have created one-of-a-kind furniture art that has been on display in area businesses and organizations for the past month.

Saturday morning, Nov. 2, all of the hand-crafted and beautifully decorated furniture will be on display at Chili’s Restaurant from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. and final silent auction bids will be taken. There will also be $5 raffle tickets available for a chance to win a special fund-raising chair lovingly decorated by the children of PCK.

Soccer, baseball shoes

Payson Sport Shoe Program will be collecting outgrown soccer, baseball and football shoes at Rumsey Park North Soccer field from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 2. Shoes may also be picked up or dropped off at Payson United Methodist Church from 8 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday. The church is on Easy Street behind Ace Hardware.

Day of the Dead celebration

Staff and volunteers at the Payson Public Library invite children of the community to join the Payson Public Library for a Day of the Dead Celebration Saturday, Nov. 2.

Participants will learn about this Mexican holiday as they enjoy stories, a puppet show, sugar skull decorating, piñatas and more. The event takes place from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is for ages 3 to 12. For more information, call the library, (928) 474-9260.

Meet new neurologist

At the next Payson Regional Medical Center’s Senior Circle Lunch and Learn, members and guests will have an opportunity to meet PRMC’s new neurologist, Christi P. Gill, D.O.

The Lunch and Learn is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 215 N. Beeline Highway. Reservations are required; call (928) 472-9290 to save a seat at least 48 hours in advance.

$1 Bag Sale scheduled

Select from hundreds of clothes, shoes, belts, etc. Anything you wear (except for jewelry) that can fit into one of the shop’s bags can be yours for just $1. This sale will take place the first Monday of every month at the Almost New Shop, 304 E. Aero Dr. The next sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 4.

Gosar at Chamber Business Roundtable

The Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce will have a Business Roundtable with Congressman Paul Gosar from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 4 at Tiny’s, 600 E. Highway 260, Payson.

Gosar will discuss strengthening Arizona’s economy, ObamaCare, taxes, immigration and issues facing small businesses.

Diamond ring raffle

Do you enjoy wearing rings? Here’s a chance to win a 1/2 carat diamond, appraised at $3,600. Only 200 tickets will be sold, which make chances much better than winning the lotto.

Payson Jewelers donated the diamond for a previous charitable raffle. The winner donated it back again, this time to benefit the Payson Senior Center and Payson Assisting Displaced Students.

Raffle tickets are $25 each or three for $50. They are available at the Senior Center, 514 W. Main St., Payson or the Chamber of Commerce, 100 W. Main St., Payson.

The drawing will be Dec. 22 and ticket holders need not be present to win.

AARP Driver Safety Course

The next AARP Driver Safety Course is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (and includes a 1 hour lunch break), Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 at the Payson Senior Circle, 215 N. Beeline Hwy.
