Health Fair Offers Blood Tests, Flu Shots

Take advantage of one-stop health care during the 15th Annual Community Health & Care Fair from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Nov. 2 at Julia Randall Elementary School gym, 902 W. Main St., Payson.

Organizers hope people will bring donations of eye glasses, hearing aids and/or non-perishable food.

A variety of tests, screenings and more will be offered to all ages at the Community Health & Care Fair from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Nov. 2 at Julia Randall Elementary School, 902 W. Main.

The fair offers both free adult and children’s screenings and health education, a $10 blood test for cholesterol and fasting blood glucose and $45 flu and $60 pneumonia immunizations. To take advantage of the blood test, participants should fast for 12 hours prior. Medicare and most insurance will likely cover the cost of the immunizations. No appointments are required.

The free services and information for adults include: blood pressure, dental, diabetes, dermatology, hearing, ankle brachial index, vision, heart and lungs, oxygen saturation, Ask the Doctor/Pharmacist, nutrition information, chiropractic screenings, Myofacial release and breast exam education.

For children, the free services include: dental, heart and lungs, vision, hearing, nutrition information, fingerprinting, the child identification program and information for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.

The fair will also include a half-hour Zumba dance exercise class at 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. and a class on the Affordable Health Care Act at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

Also new this year: balance assessment testing, information on the Guardian Angel program and mental health.

Primary sponsors include the Mogollon Health Alliance and Payson Regional Medical Center. Other key groups include: Hospice Compassus, Payson Care Center, Rim Country Health, Girls on the Run, Arizona Area Health Education Centers, KMOG and KRIM.
