Payson Area Computer Association to meet

All are invited to the Payson Area Computer Association’s next general meeting on at 6:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 1 in the community room of the Payson Public Library. Avast “evangelist” Bob Gostischa (popularly known as Bob G.) will return to Payson for the meeting with a presentation titled, “So You Have A New (or New to You) Computer — Now What?” This presentation is on turning a new computer into your friend and a tool that will make your life easier.

Rim Country Celts

Members of the Rim Country Celts are traveling to Tucson for that city’s Highland Games Nov. 1 through Nov. 3. The group plans to have a booth at the event.

Later in the month, it will host Celtic music and stories at the Dimi Espresso Coffee House Wednesday, Nov. 6 and hold a short business meeting and a planning session for the Ceilidh Thursday, Nov. 14 at the home of John Munro.

Payson Walkers

Members of the Payson Walkers meet at 9 a.m. daily for an hour-long hike on pavement. The following starting points have been scheduled:

Nov. 2: west end of Longhorn

Nov. 3: Payson Public Library

Nov. 4: Elks Lodge

Nov. 5: Green Valley Lake, starting at the parks office

Please park away from the most used areas of any parking lot so as to not block businesses/clients, etc.

Lions Club of Payson

The Lions of Payson will display an American Flag at your home or business on seven holidays each year. The club also conducts estate sales for those wishing to downsize or remove contents of a residence. Proceeds benefit various community needs such as eyesight and hearing programs for the working poor. As a 501 (c)(3) charitable foundation, donations are often eligible for state tax credits and federal deductions. Masonic Lodge

The Sy Harrison Masonic Lodge regularly has Child ID sessions for Rim Country youth. The group will again be offering the program at the Nov. 2 Community Health & Care Fair at Julia Randall Elementary. The Masons do not keep any of the information provided.

MOAA meeting

The Payson Satellite Northern AZ Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Mazatzal Hotel & Casino meeting room. The guest speaker will be a deputy from the Gila County Sheriff’s office.

Overeaters Anonymous

Overeaters Anonymous meets from 2 p.m. Mondays at the Rim Country Health and Retirement Community Room, 807 W. Longhorn Road (after turning in the main driveway, turn right at the first driveway. The Community Room is in the center of the apartment complex). There are no fees or dues. The only membership requirement is a desire to not compulsively overeat anymore.

The Saving Graces of Payson — a Canasta card-playing group — is looking for a few ladies who enjoy fun, laughter and friendship.

This Red Hat group meets at 10 a.m. the first Wednesday of every month at the Crosswinds Restaurant. You do not need to know how to play, the members will be happy to teach the game.

Genealogy Society

The Northern Gila County Genealogy Society will host a program by Robert Rearley at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 7 at its library, 302 E. Bonita St., Payson.

Rearley’s topic is “Philip Sheetz: Gunsmith, Patriot,” from whom he is a direct descendant. He will also talk about the role the Kentucky rifle played in the American Revolution.
