Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) of Payson invited the community to an open house and commemoration of 100 years of church affiliation with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Program Tuesday, Oct. 29.

About 75 attended the event, which included watching a simulcast program from Salt Lake City with 3 million viewers at stake centers around the world. It featured Scout choirs, historical vignettes, and videos highlighting important events, service, and Scouting achievements from the past century.

The LDS Church became the first sponsor of Scouting in the United States in 1913 and is now the largest sponsoring organization of BSA with more than 430,000 boys and young men enrolled.
