The Payson Women’s Golf Association wrapped up the season with a Pink Tournament in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Oct. 29 at Payson Golf Course. Players were allowed to discard 5-hole scores.
Claudia Bullard won the Flight A championship with a 38. Taking the Flight B crown was Mary Jones with a 37. Earlene Brewer’s 34 won in Flight C.
Jan Burns, on hole No. 5, and Shari Cody (14) won nearest the pin prizes.
Two ongoing tournaments also concluded that day — the Turkey Shoot and the Ringer.
In the Turkey Shoot, Karen Peterson, with 77, and Shari Cody, with 84, were the gross winners. Meanwhile, Alesha Calderwood (67), Jan Burns (69), Joyce Goff (71) and Claudia Bullard 73 were net winners. In the Ringer, Karen Peterson (61) won in Flight A, Judy McFall (66) in Flight B, Susan Torrens (71) in Flight C and Earlene Brewer (74) in Flight D.
In earlier tournaments, Karen Peterson retained her title as Club Champion; Kay Davis, who at 93 is the PWGA’s oldest player, won the President’s Cup; Karen Peterson and Judy Mackenzie claimed the Memorial Tournament; Shari Cody won the Matchplay; and Karen Peterson (gross) and Mary Jones (net) prevailed in the State Medallion. Judy Mackenzie was awarded a prize as the Most Improved Player and Judy McFall earned the prize for Most Accurate Handicap, with 120 cards submitted.
