Payson and Arizona Public Service will sponsor the 13th Annual Electric Light Parade down Main Street on Dec. 7.
The 6 p.m. holiday event features floats, horses, strolling elves, Santa Claus and a host of other entrants — most of them decked out with merrily blinking lights.
“It will be a Charlie Brown Christmas,” said Payson Tourism Director Cameron Davis. He urged all the businesses in town to provide entries — all decorated with lights.
Get an application at the Payson Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department located at 1000 W. Country Club or you can go to www.paysonrimcountry.com and print it out. All applications are due by 3 p.m., Dec. 2.
This year the parade will include an appearance by Payson’s dancing pine trees, which proved a nationally televised hit at last year’s Fiesta Bowl Parade in Phoenix.
The brightly lit volunteers in tree costumes will cavort in the parade and help gather canned food and donations for the Payson Area Food Drive.
Donors can either hand items to the trees during the parade or drop by Santa’s After Party at Macky’s Grill in Sawmill Crossing. Bring your camera and come meet Santa and all the Fiesta Bowl trees.
The parade will start at Green Valley Park and proceed east to Sawmill Crossing.
