Members of the Concerned Veterans for America brought the Defend Freedom bus to town on Monday.
Among the speakers were Lt. Col. Steve Russell, U.S. Army veteran and author; Darin Selnick, U.S. Air Force veteran and adviser on the VA; Jane Horton, the widow of combat casualty Christopher Horton; and Pete Hegseth, chief executive officer for CVA.
The tour provided a platform for U.S. military veterans and others to tell their stories.
Issues discussed included preserving promises to veterans by reforming the Department of Veterans Affairs; reducing the 500,000 case “backlog” in veterans’ benefit claims; reforming Pentagon spending; reducing the $17 trillion debt; getting veterans involved in politics.
