PAL hosts DiMaggio

Local artist Diane DiMaggio will speak at the Tuesday, Oct. 15 Payson Art League meeting, demonstrating different techniques she uses in her artwork to make them unique.

Born in New York, DiMaggio always had a desire to paint, however, without any encouragement, she put it off. Today, she spends much of her time teaching and encouraging others who have that desire. Her belief is that if a person has a desire to paint, then they can.

DiMaggio began her career as an artist in 1998 at a time when she was no longer able to continue working because of health issues. She painted her first watercolor, which was well accepted, and continued from there. She has done many workshops in Maine and Newport, Ore., and now in Arizona, painting and teaching the last seven years in Payson. Her artwork, prints and note cards are available at the Art Nook in Swiss Village.

The public is invited to join art league members at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15 at the Rim Country Health and Retirement Center, 807 W. Longhorn Rd., in the dining room. Light refreshments will be served.
