The recent Mountain Village Foundation Steak Fry at the StrawBEARy Bear in Strawberry was a fund-raiser for our organization. To that end, it was a great success — 100 steaks were ordered, 100 people showed up to eat them. Amazing.
But that is only part of the story. This was an event for Pine and Strawberry and the people who call it home, even if only on weekends.
People came, people gave, people enjoyed visiting with one another. Trouble in Paradise entertained us and some folks even danced.
Mountain Village Foundation is the new name for Strawberry’s Elite. The name has changed but the mission remains the same. We raise money to help primarily children, but also families in need in our communities. We cannot raise the money without the support from our communities. And our communities are very generous.
Lisa, owner of the StrawBEARy Bear, stood for four hours grilling these ribeye steaks to order for each diner. The food was either donated or sold to us at cost. MVF members waited tables and bussed dishes as well as welcoming all the guests.
Everyone had fun with the raffle. Many local business and individuals donated items, for which we are most grateful. The raffle was profitable.
This steak fry was a success not only as a money raiser for the children of our communities, but it was a wonderful community event bringing neighbors together to share a meal, visit and enjoy each other.
Thank you to each and every person who donated, who came, who helped us in any way. We hope you all enjoyed our event. And now we can help the kids!
