Soroptimists install new officers

Installation of officers for Soroptimist International of Zane Grey Country was held at a recent luncheon. Board of directors for the 2013-2014 year are Sandi Scott, president; Lani Shaver, vice president; Suzie Van Hollen, secretary; Camille Levee, director; Jean Oliver, director; Vliet Hulse, treasurer; Margaret Holmes, director; Candace Conte, director. The local club was chartered in 1975 and has been providing service to the Rim Country ever since. Meetings are held at Tiny’s Restaurant on Wednesdays at noon. Flycasters meet

The Payson Flycasters Club meets Saturday, Sept. 28 at Tiny’s Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260, Payson. Breakfast is at 8 a.m. and the meeting starts at 9 a.m.

The speaker for this month will be Brian Boyer, who is the owner of Desert Bass Pro Guide Service. He will be discussing his service, which offers guided trips in the White Mountains and also fly-fishing for bass at Roosevelt Lake.

Saturday, Sept. 28: Karaoke with Ginger 3 to 6 p.m.; food 4 to 5 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 29: Food noon to 5 p.m.; Bingo 1 p.m. (doors open at noon); Happy Hour 2 to 6 p.m.; Pool Tournament 4:30 p.m.

Unity of Payson

Payson Center for Spiritual Awareness

On Sunday, Sept. 29 Wesley Ruth will talk on a subject to be announced. Wes is facilitator to A Course In Miracles as well as a unique and inspiring service on the last Sunday of each month.

Pinochle players needed

Because of medical problems, the Payson Senior Center has recently lost members of its Pinochle Club. Two or more card players are needed to replace them either on a temporary or permanent basis. Republicans host Crandell

The Rim Country Republican Club meets at 11 a.m., Monday, Sept. 30 at Tiny’s Family Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260, Payson.

Alpha course set

Alpha is a non-denominational course designed to explore the existence of God, the purpose of life, the afterlife, the claims of Jesus and more in a relaxed, friendly setting.

The class is Mondays, starting Sept. 30 and continuing through Nov. 11 and is open to the public. Advance registration is required. Dinner is served at 5:30 p.m. and class is at 6 p.m. Free childcare is available.

Card players wanted

The Saving Graces of Payson — a Canasta card-playing group — is looking for a few ladies who enjoy fun, laughter and friendship.

This Red Hat group meets at 10 a.m. the first Wednesday of every month at the Crosswinds Restaurant patio room. There is a break for lunch around noon and play and resumes after lunch. Anyone interested in joining will be welcomed. You do not need to know how to play, the members will be happy to teach the game.

The “Life Changing - Something New” Parkinson’s Disease Support Group meets at 10 a.m. the first Thursday of every third month at 805 E. Highway 260 at Au Natural Cafe & Healthy Perspectives.

Lost Loves

Lost Loves, a support group for adults who have lost a loved one through suicide, meets on the first Thursday of each month at the Senior Circle, 215 N. Beeline Highway, Payson. Adults suffering from such a loss are welcome to attend the group sessions which are free of charge. The group is facilitated by a professional counselor an da survivor of suicide loss.
