Representative Gosar recently requested a hearing on his bill, HR596, the Public Lands Renewable Energy Development Act.
This request had strong bipartisan support with 31 additional representatives signing it.
This bill will improve the development of wind and solar energy on public lands, provide for a system of competitive bidding and ensure that fair royalty payments are collected. It also provides for a distribution of the royalty payments back to the states and counties that bear the brunt of these activities. Funds will also be retained for mitigating impacts to wildlife and wildlife habitat, which is important to those of us that value our wildlife.
Please join me in thanking Representative Gosar for his refreshing approach to developing renewable energy on public lands in a responsible manner.
