Town’S Under-Construction Park Proving Popular

Although the dust of development has not even settled on the new park in Star Valley, as crews work on the volleyball courts and horseshoe pits, several groups already want to schedule events.

At its April 1 meeting, the Star Valley Town Council heard a request from the Star Valley Business Association to use the park for its June 7 Star Valley Business Rally. In addition, Bill Armstrong made a presentation about the First Annual Star Valley Chili Cook-Off (formerly the Payson Pro Rodeo Association Chili Cook-Off), tentatively planned for Sept. 13.

Susie Johnson, with the business association, also asked the council to participate in the rally.

The council agreed to contribute up to $2,000 for the rally in the park.

The council discussed combining the grand opening ceremony for the park with the rally, but put off a decision until the April 15 meeting of the council.

Armstrong did not ask to reserve the park for the cook-off, but told the council the group organizing is exploring possible venues.
