Alzheimer’s educational program
The Alzheimer’s Association Desert Southwest Chapter will be presenting Living with Alzheimer’s: For Middle-Stage Caregivers from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Wednesdays, April 16, May 21 and June 18 at the Payson Senior Center, 514 W. Main St.
This is a free educational program presenting helpful strategies to provide safe, effective and comfortable care in the middle stage of Alzheimer’s.

There will be two Payson blood drives in April: from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, April 18, blood donations will be taken at the old gym at Payson High School, 514 W. Wade Lane; from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, April 21, a blood drive will be at Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church, 507 W. Wade Lane.
Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome, especially after 1 p.m.

Chronic Disease Self-Management Workshop
Eastern Area Health Education Center and the Arizona Living Well Institute offer a six-week workshop, Take Control of Your Health: Chronic Disease Self-Management, at the Payson campus of Gila Community College.
The workshop is designed to help people with ongoing health problems such as diabetes, arthritis, heart disease, asthma, or any other chronic condition.
If you would like to learn how to better manage your life, sign up for a six-week workshop presented by EAHEC. Class size is typically around 12 to 18 participants. Each session is from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Fridays, April 18 through May 23, at Gila Community College in Payson. This program is free. However, registration is required.

Kinesiology and Muscle Checking
An introductory presentation on kinesiology and muscle checking is at 6 p.m., Thursday, April 24 at Gila Community College, Payson campus.
Offered by Shiranda Deerwoman, M.A., participants will learn how kinesiology and muscle checking is used to identify and bring into balance environmental, mental, emotional and physical factors that show up as energy disturbances in the system.

Kicking off Mental Health Month
Family and Friends Together, in collaboration with Gila Community College, Southwest Behavioral Health Services and Horizon Human Services will present the film “Silver Linings Playbook” from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, April 25 at GCC room 301, 201 N. Mud Springs Road, Payson.
Following the film, there will be a brief discussion and light refreshments will be served. The program is free.

The Gila Community College Honors Program will have its first Walk-4-Education on the Jimmy Harris Trail from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, April 26.
Everyone is invited to participate. There will be raffle prizes every hour, free hot dogs and refreshments.
