A flag ceremony was held April 15 in Star Valley to honor Lt. Bobby Mollere and Larry Cory.

An impressive and heart-wrenching flag ceremony was held at station 21 in Star Valley for Lt. Bobby Mollere and former fire board chairman, Larry Cory at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 15. The ceremony was a tearful one for Chief Gary Hatch and the people who came to honor both of the men. The flag was raised to the top of the flagpole, and then lowered to half-staff. The folded flag was then presented to Mrs. Cory. Light refreshments were served after the ceremony.

ACC meeting

The Arizona Corporation Commission held a public comment meeting April 11 at the Church of the Nazarene in Payson in regards to the water rates requested by the Payson Water Company. There were 200 people from eight different communities present to speak regarding the higher water rates for three minutes each. I would not normally report on this except one of the communities involved is Mead Ranch, just a few miles up the Control Road. One of the residents of Mead Ranch, Scherry Duncan spoke her three minutes to oppose the rate increase. Many of the speakers protested to the ACC about the higher rates. The rate increases are expected to range from 50 percent to 158 percent. The other communities that will be affected from this rate increase are East Verde Estates, Flowing Springs, Geronimo Estates/Elusive Acres, Mesa del Caballo, Whispering Pines, Deer Creek and Gisela/Tonto Creek Shores.

The ACC did not comment on the complaints, they just listened.

If anyone wants more information, there is a website for the Arizona Corporation Commission.

Recipe of the week

This recipe was made by one of the Domino Diva ladies last week and it was a hit.

Cool Brownie Treat

Make brownies as directed.

Melt Andes mints in double boiler and pour over warm brownies.

Let set until it is cool. This makes a wonderful minty frosting.
