Hundreds of people attended the annual Student Centered Health Fair at Julia Randall Elementary gym Friday night.
The event was intended to encourage kids to exercise, eat nutritious food and develop the habits for a long and healthy life.
People milled around checking out the vendor booths, chatting and watching or participating in the various exhibitions — including dance, Zumba, yoga and even championship yoyoing.
The number of obese children in the U.S. has doubled to 15 percent in recent decades.
Throughout the three-hour event, the gym rang with happy chatter and laughter, with kids charging about chasing frisbees, shooting hoops with soft red balls, giving hula hoops a spin and a host of other activities.
