Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Safeway has a new head florist and she brings with her 36 years of experience.
Brenda Wolf recently moved from Oklahoma to Rim Country to be closer to family.
She dreamed of continuing her floral career here, but didn’t know if she could given the small number of floral shops in the area, Safeway having the largest. By a stroke of luck, Safeway was looking and manager Dan Dillon hired Wolf given her extensive floral background. It is a dream come true for Wolf to live so close to her grandchildren and still work in the business.
“I am probably the happiest person in the world,” she said Friday standing amongst dozens of long-stem roses. “I got a wonderful job and have my family nearby — I am complete.”
Wolf is now busy growing Safeway’s full-service floral shop. Besides ready-to-take arrangements, Safeway can create custom arrangements for weddings, funerals and just about any occasion. They also offer balloons, plants and make deliveries two times a day. Deliveries are at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in Payson and Star Valley on weekdays. The cost is $10. Working with flowers has been a life-long career for Wolf. Her family opened a floral shop in Oklahoma City and she started working there as a teen.
“I have never done anything else,” she said. She loves how the job lets her be creative, how no two days are the same and when a customer’s face lights up when they see their arrangement.
“Making people happy — that is what it is all about,” she said. For information, call Safeway’s floral department at (928) 255-4633.
