Here’S To A Great Valentine’S Day

The Village

Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone, especially to my hubby, Bill. We have been together for 56 years and he is the love of my life. My life with Bill has been better than I ever imagined it could be. Thank you, Bill, for your love.

Our granddaughter Bethany and her husband Dan McGrew celebrate their 5th wedding anniversary today. Happy anniversary to the both of you.

This past weekend was a great treat. I was fortunate enough to be invited to the Gammage Theatre for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s version of “The Wizard of Oz.” What a delight! The special effects were remarkable and the acting was flawless. There were a few new songs that were just as good as the original music.

My hubby and I always listen to the radio in the morning for the Brandon Iron show and Rim Country Health sponsors a trivia question every day. I called in to answer the question “What was the name of the newspaper Clark Kent worked at?” I knew the answer, ‘The Daily Planet’ and won. The prize is a latte or a panini sandwich. Since I needed to be in Payson on Friday with errands to run, I stopped in the Dimi Espresso Café for the sandwich. A gentleman walked in and asked, “Who belongs to the 2013 Sonic?” I said, “That was me, is there something wrong with my car?” The gentleman says, “No, but you are the winner of $10 dollars, I saw the sticker for the Rim Country Health on your car. Here is $10, and as a matter of fact, you are the week’s winner of a $25 gift certificate to Macky’s Grill.”

As it turns out, the gentleman in question was the marketing director for the Rim Country Health, Bret DaCosta. Wow! I was amazed at my good fortune. I mentioned to Bret that I had heard nothing but good remarks about the facility, Rim Country Health, and I thanked him for the fantastic prizes. By the way, the panini sandwiches are wonderful! I tried the chicken pesto and it tasted great.

The ladies meet at the Tonto Village fire station at 1 p.m. Parking is in the back lot, the door will be open. Don’t worry about whether you know how to play the game; participants will help you learn. The afternoon is just a fun time to get together over a fun game and to enjoy great conversation and a bit of good food. If you are interested, call me at (928) 478-9935 and get all the details.

Next week is void of birthdays except for a former Tonto Village III resident Gail Mortenson. Her big day is Feb. 22. The next week, Feb.y 23 will be the big day for Tonto Creek resident Brenda Slapnicka. Happy birthday to you, Brenda.
