Unity of Payson members recently voted to bring on Dr. Lynnette Brouwer as their spiritual leader. Brouwer initiated Unity here in Payson three years ago, has been active in Unity churches for 20 years, and is in the last year of study for the Licensed Unity Teacher certification.
While there are several Unity churches in northern Arizona, including Flagstaff, Pinetop, Cottonwood and Prescott, one had never been started in Payson. The group has adopted a portion of Highway 260 where members pick up trash monthly, contributes regularly to the Presbyterian food bank, and holds a weekly prayer and meditation group. While Brouwer will deliver the Sunday message twice a month, the group will continue to bring in other Unity ministers for Sunday messages as well.
The church is planning an active year of book groups, workshops and even art classes.
With years of study and involvement in Unity, a Ph.D. in training and organization development, and over two decades in the role of university professor teaching leadership and management, Brouwer comes well-equipped to lead this spiritual community.
“My vision for Unity of Payson is to be a vibrant and vital spiritual community, making a difference in Payson and in our individual lives,” she said.
In addition to taking a lead role with Unity of Payson, she looks forward to working with other spiritual leaders to address issues of local and regional concern.
