Rim Country Celts celebrate Robert Burns

The Rim Country Celts will have a Robert Burns celebration from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 15 with Cinnamon Twist playing at Dimi Espresso Café, 612 N. Beeline Highway, Payson. The Rim Country Celts offer a program every first and third Wednesday at Dimi Espresso open to the community and free of charge.

Moose Lodge events

The Women of the Moose meet at 6 p.m. the first and third Tuesday of each month. The Loyal Order of the Moose meetings are at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesday of each month.

The lodge has a Thursday Fish Fry from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and weekly dinner specials are available.

Veterans of Foreign Wars

The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States of America will meet at 6 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month at the American Legion Post #69, located at 709 E. Highway 260.

Masonic Lodge

The Sy Harrison Masonic Lodge #70, located at 200 E. Rancho Road in Payson, meets every Tuesday at 7 p.m. A dinner is held at 5:30 p.m. every second Tuesday for members, families and guests with an after-dinner program followed by the lodge’s Stated Meeting at 7 p.m.

Rim Country 4 Wheelers

Members of the Rim Country 4 Wheelers invite anyone interested in 4-wheeling to join them at 9 a.m. each Wednesday in the parking lot at the east end of Bashas’ by Jiffy Lube. Normally anywhere from four to a dozen or more members participate and the destination is usually determined at that time. Runs also occur once a month on a Saturday and the destination is usually predetermined at the prior month’s meeting.

International Police Association

The International Police Association (I.P.A. Region 61 Northern AZ) meets for breakfast at Mazatzal Casino Restaurant at 9 a.m. every Wednesday. All honorably retired law enforcement and active law enforcement personnel are welcome.

Payson Rimstones Rock Club will meet Wednesday, Jan. 8 at the Payson Library, 328 N. McLane Rd. The board meeting is at 2:30 p.m.; the regular meeting will follow at 3:30 p.m. The speaker is Barry Jones and the subject is Fire and Ice – The Cascade Mountains.

Rim Country Coalition

The Rim Country Coalition will have two meetings in January — 10 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Jan. 9 and 1 p.m., Friday, Jan. 24. Both will be at the Payson Senior Center, 514 W. Main St.

Reaching Out Breast Cancer Support Group

Reaching Out Breast Cancer Support Group meets once a month, on the second Thursday. We meet at noon in the Mt. Cross Lutheran Church, 601 E. Highway 260 (just east of Safeway).

All breast cancer survivors are welcome and encouraged to attend our meetings — if you are newly diagnosed, recovering from surgery, or a longtime survivor — you will gain from our meetings. We share information, encouragement and hope. We also try to bring in volunteers to share their knowledge on related breast cancer topics.

Alzheimer’s caregivers support groups

The Alzheimer’s Caregivers Support Group invites caregivers, families, service providers and members of the community to attend any or all of the following:

• First and third Wednesdays of the month from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Senior Center.

• Second and fourth Thursdays of the month from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Senior Center.

P.E.O. Sisterhood to meet Friday

Chapter DF of the P.E.O. Sisterhood will meet at 9:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 10 at the Church of the Nazarene, 200 E. Tyler Parkway, Payson. Daughters of the American Revolution

The January meeting of the Daughters of the American Revolution will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, Jan. 10 in the meeting room of the Payson Public Library. The topic of guest speakers Pat and Gail Hearn will be Rim Country Civilian Conservation Corps. 

The DAR focuses on preserving American history and securing America’s future through education and patriotism.  Women age 18 and older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background that can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution are eligible for membership.  Prospective members and guests are welcome at all meetings. Rim Country Optimist Club

Rim Country Optimist Club usually meets the second Monday of each month at the Cedar Ridge Restaurant of the Mazatzal Hotel and Casino starting at 5:15 p.m., with dinner and then usually hosting a speaker at 6 p.m. The next meeting is Monday, Jan. 13. The speaker, Judy Baker, is going to help members to plan and understand a future event.

The Optimist Club (Friends of Youth) works in a variety of ways to help youth in the community. Through benefits, activities, scholarships and financial support the club members strive to expand and enhance opportunities for children of all ages.

The 6th annual Lip Sync contest is the club’s next event; it will take place Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Payson High School auditorium

Beyond Limits Disability Ministry

Beyond Limits will kick off the New Year with this month’s meeting from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 14 at Payson First Church of the Nazarene, 200 E. Tyler Parkway, Payson. A delicious free dinner will be provided, followed by music and an inspirational program. Family members, care givers and service providers are always welcome to join us.

Beyond Limits is an interdenominational Christian group for adults with developmental disabilities, age 18 and older. The ministry, which began in 2005, is a 501(c) 3 non-profit charitable organization. For questions or further information, call mark or Jennie Smith at 468-8434.

Experience that will last a lifetime

An All Scouts Registration is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 15 at the Payson Elks Lodge, 1206 N. Beeline Hwy. Registration for Girl Scouts is for those in kindergarten through the 12th grade; those in the first through fifth grades participate in Cub Scouts; while those in the sixth through 12th grades will register for Boy Scouts.
