A couple from Alaska is brining some of the cold with them — but of the sweet variety.
Michael and Dee Bezilla are planning to open a yogurt shop in the shopping center near Tiny’s Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260, sometime in March.
Summit Swirls will serve up deliciousness and fun, said Dee.
The couple moved to Payson three years
ago and have toyed with opening a restaurant for years.
Dee settled on a yogurt store around September mainly because it is her favorite dessert.
“We travel all over for it (yogurt),” she said. “There wasn’t anyone selling it around here and I wanted a good product that was healthy and delicious and fun.”
The couple’s contractor is in the midst of remodeling the two-suite space in the units nearest Highway 260.
“We are looking at a prospective opening at the end of March or middle of March,” she said.
While this will be the first food business for the couple, Dee said they are excited to try something new.
Michael worked 30 years for an oil company in Alaska before retiring. And Dee worked in the medical field before becoming a homemaker.
The couple visited the Payson area on and off for years on winter vacations.
“We always loved the area and when he retired we had a house built.”
