Moose Lodge events

The Loyal Order of the Moose meetings are at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. The Women of the Moose meet at 6 p.m. the first and third Tuesday of each month.

The lodge has a Thursday Fish Fry from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and weekly dinner specials are available.

Masonic Lodge

The Sy Harrison Masonic Lodge #70, located at 200 E. Rancho Road in Payson, meets every Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The Payson Walkers group invites everyone to join its daily, hour-long walk, mostly on pavement. The start time is 8 a.m. from the following sites:

Rim Country 4 Wheelers

Members of the Rim Country 4 Wheelers (RC4W) invite anyone interested in four-wheel-drive back road travel to join them at 8 a.m. Wednesdays in the Bashas’ shopping center parking lot in front of the Big 5 store.

The level of difficulty may range from easy to moderate. Saturday trips are also scheduled at least once a month. For all trips, have a full tank of gas, lunch, and a lawn chair.

The New Hope Grief Support Group, for those who have lost a spouse, meets from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the Senior Circle, 215 N. Beeline Highway, Payson.

The Mogollon Chapter 1235 of the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees meets Wednesday, June 25 beginning at 11:30 a.m. ending at 2 p.m. The meeting will be held at Tiny’s Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260. The guest speaker is Pete Aleshire, the managing editor of the Payson Roundup.

All active and retired federal employees are invited to attend. Please bring non-perishable food items for the Payson Food Bank. Also any new member will receive a free lunch.

87 Mountain Biking Club

87 Mountain Biking Club meets at 4 p.m. every Wednesday at the 87 Bike Shop, 907 S. Beeline Highway, Payson.

Members have group trail rides throughout Gila County for every level of rider (beginners to advanced). Everyone is encouraged to join and learn about all the great mountain biking trails Payson and the surrounding area has to offer.

Members of Payson Memoir Writers meet for lunch at 1 p.m. Thursday in the private dining room at the Crosswinds Restaurant. The organization is currently open to new members. 

The purpose of the meetings is for those in attendance to read from their memoirs, followed by suggestions and encouragement.

Rim Country Coalition

The Rim Country Coalition is a newly formed group of local agencies and community members. The focus of the group is the prevention of substance misuse/abuse among older adults in the Payson area. The group plans to help “connect seniors in the Rim Country.”

The group meets at 1 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of the month at the Payson Senior Center, 514 W. Main St. All are welcome.

Payson Tea Party

The Payson Tea Party hosts two candidates for the Arizona Corporation Commission at its Thursday, June 26 meeting. The group gathers from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Tiny’s, 600 E. Highway 260, Payson.

The speakers, Tom Forese and Doug Little, will share their qualifications and thoughts on this very powerful commission that affects us all.

Payson Flycasters

The Payson Flycasters meet at 9 a.m., Saturday, June 28 at Tiny’s Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260, Payson.

Come earlier and enjoy breakfast. A speaker from the Arizona Game and Fish Department will report on the recent trout census completed on Canyon Creek.  Members of the club assisted in the capture, count, and return of the fish to the creek process.

Payson Marine Corps League meets at Elks

The Payson Marine Corps League meets at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 28 at the Elks Lodge at the corner of North Highway 87 and Airport Road, Payson.
