Payson Area Stroke Survivors is a support group for stroke survivors and their caregivers. It meets from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 5 at the Senior Circle, 215 N. Beeline Highway, across from Walmart.

Founding pastor is guest speaker
Rick Reynolds, founding pastor of Star Valley Baptist Church and a former teacher in the Payson School District, will be the church’s guest speaker at 10:50 a.m. and 6 p.m., Sunday, March 2.
He will also be teaching the Bible Study at 9:30 a.m.

Choir conducts service
The Arizona Lutheran Academy choir will conduct the service and Bible study at Rock of Ages Lutheran Church at 9a.m., Sunday, March 2. There will be a free luncheon afterward. All are welcome to attend this very special event. Rock of Ages Lutheran Church is at 204 W. Airport Road, Payson.
Overeaters Anonymous meets from 2 p.m. Mondays at Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church, 507 W. Wade Lane, Payson.
There are no fees or dues. The only membership requirement is a desire to not compulsively overeat anymore.

Scouting adventures await boys ages 7 to 18 with Pack 7354. While the group meets at the Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church, it is nondenominational and provides a true scouting experience with lots of outdoor activities and the opportunity to learn skills. Order of the Eastern Star
The Ponderosa Chapter #64 O.E.S. meets at 7 p.m. the first and third Mondays at the Masonic Lodge, 200 E. Rancho Rd., Payson.
A potluck dinner is held at 5:30 at the second meeting of the month.
All Eastern Star members are invited. Ladies with any Masonic family affiliation are encouraged to join the group.
In addition to the meetings, the ladies gather at 10 a.m. every Wednesday for a fun game of canasta.

Rim Country 4 Wheelers
Members of the Rim Country 4 Wheelers invite anyone interested in 4-wheeling to join them at 9 a.m. each Wednesday in the parking lot at the east end of Bashas’ by Jiffy Lube. Normally anywhere from four to a dozen or more members participate and the destination is usually determined at that time. Runs also occur once a month on a Saturday and the destination is usually predetermined at the prior month’s meeting.

The Saving Graces of Payson — a Canasta card-playing group — is looking for a few ladies who enjoy fun, laughter and friendship.
This Red Hat group meets at 10 a.m. the first Wednesday of every month at the Crosswinds Restaurant patio room. There is a break for lunch around noon and play and resumes after lunch. Anyone interested in joining will be welcomed. You do not need to know how to play, the members will be happy to teach the game.

Nazarene Church hosts missionary
Dr. Stephanie Doenges, a missionary doctor to Papua New Guinea, will speak at the Payson First Nazarene Church, 200 E. Tyler Parkway Wednesday, March 5. Dr. Doenges works primarily in the maternity ward and will show pictures of her experiences.
There will be a potluck dinner before the program at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend and bring a salad, vegetable, or dessert. A freewill offering will be received.
Weight Watchers meets at 5 p.m. every Wednesday at the Masonic Lodge, 200 E. Rancho Road (next to the fire station).

Learn about using military records
Val Sullivan will offer the program, “Introduction to Fold3 Military Records” at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 6 at the Genealogy Library, 302 E. Bonita Street.
Fold3 is a subscription Web site devoted to military records of several wars in which the United States has fought.
There will be a free, hands-on workshop from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, March 12 in the Payson LDS Family History Center (FHC) for those who attended the March 6 program.
Although the Web site is a subscription site, it is available for free at the Payson LDS Family History Center. Pre-registration at the FHC will be required as there are only 10 computers available. If there are not enough computers for the number signing up, the computer portion of the workshop will be repeated a second time at a date to be determined.
Be prepared for this workshop by bringing all the names of your ancestors that served in the Civil War (for the North or South); dates and places would be helpful if you know them.

High Country Garden Club meets
The High Country Garden Club meets at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, March 6 in the fellowship hall of the First Southern Baptist Church, located at the corner of Colcord and Bonita Street, Payson.
Glenn McCombs of Plant Fair Nursery is the speaker. He will demonstrate how to transplant plants and propagate plant cuttings.
