Work on the newly approved Star Valley Park was underway the day after the town council approved the plan.

Town Manager Tim Grier said a representative from the prison factory in Florence was in Star Valley the day after the March 4 council meeting to take orders for the 14 picnic tables, 10 park benches and five grills, with delivery expected in 35 days. The same group built the structure at the Town of Payson and PAWS off-leash dog park with a grant from PetSmart.

Star Valley hopes to have the park operating by the first weekend in May, Grier said.

While waiting for delivery of the park items, workers are preparing the site for a volleyball court and four horseshoe pits.

Installation of a water fountain will follow the installation of a main water line from a well in The Knolls to the town hall site, which is part of the water department’s upcoming projects.

Grier hopes volunteer groups will help with some of the park projects such as the nature trails and maybe make use of the aviary already on the property. Any person or group interested in volunteering to help can call Town Clerk Lois Johnson at Star Valley Town Hall, (928) 472-7752.

Please don't tear down the barn if it is on the property for the park. There are so many things to do with it.
