Father, Son Complete 70-Mile Benefit Ride

On April 5, former Payson High School academic standout and state and national mountain bike champion Daniel Conley and his father, PHS art teacher George Conley, rode in the 70-mile El Tour de Mesa, which benefits leukemia research.

Unfortunately, after a long battle with leukemia, Daniel’s grandfather, Kenneth Abbas, recently passed away.

Daniel honored his grandfather by carrying a bookmark of his grandfather throughout the entire event.

The photo shows father and son at the end of the race, with Daniel proudly displaying the bookmark of his grandfather, who he considered a a great man and lived a life so very well.

Daniel is a junior at Northern Arizona University majoring in Environmental Sciences with a minor in Forestry.
