Wealth Of Rim Country Artists Open Studios To The Public

Weekend event offers unique insights


This weekend, Rim artists open their home studios for the Payson Art League’s 13th Annual ’Neath the Rim Open Studio Tour.

The event takes place from studios all around Payson, out in Round Valley, Star Valley and up in Pine. A total of 18 studios will be open featuring 27 artists working in wide variety of mediums.

Jan Hodson is one of the featured artists in this weekend’s ‘Neath the Rim Open Studio Tour, sponsored by the Payson Art League. Some 27 artists will display their work and chat with visitors at 18 studios scattered across Rim Country.

Jan Hodson, who works in oils with a palette knife, is showcased as this year’s featured artist. She and her work will be at Studio 3, 1311 W. Fort McDonald Circle, Payson. Also at Studio 3 will be Ruth Overton, another artist working in oils and owner of the home in which the studio is located, and John Finkey, who does silver jewelry.

Other artists displaying in Payson studios are: Shirley Whitworth Bertram, Steven Andrew Cole, Debra Farrell, Jack Greenshield, Joan Greenshield, Don Harmon, M. Sue Jones, Sharon Kennedy, Inger LeGrande, George Lewis, Reg McCormick, Susan McIntyre, Karla Parker, Rita Pochert, Joseph Prow, Jan Ransom and Pat Stacy.

Studio 14, 7648 W. Gibson Ranch Road, Round Valley, has the work of Jim Strong and Georgianne Smolenski.

Pine studios will feature the work of Steve Abel, Diane Nathe, Henry Salas, Pat Sessions and Larry Trotter.

The tour continues until 5 p.m. today, Friday, May 2 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4.
