Some of the world’s best kids have offered us all a lesson in courage and hard work and big dreams.
The Longhorns girls softball team made it into the state championship game for the first time in Payson history —tying the record for wins many of the same girls set last year.
Alas, they couldn’t quite hold off the more experienced Winslow team and lost in the final innings.
That doesn’t matter to us. We’re still inspired and heartened by a marvelous season — and a team full of girls willing to make sacrifices and play as a team. When we talked to them, seems like the moment they remember best was dancing on the bus on the way to a game.
And if that’s not enough, we also had the great privilege of listening to the Payson High School band and choir last week offer a stunning performance — handling complex, professional-level music with perfect poise and pitch. They also worked their hearts out all year long — and were astonished to discover what they could do when they played together.
So thank you — for reminding us about what matters — and filling use with pride. It’s great to be a Longhorn.
