Wine and Cheese Party The Friends of Payson Parks & Recreation, Inc., plans a Wine and Cheese Party in combination with its general membership meeting and election of officers from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 25 at the Payson Public Library meeting room, 325 N. Make and sign a Christmas card for U.S. active duty military personnel The Mogollon Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Payson Girl Scouts invite Rim residents and visitors to join then in making and signing Christmas cards for U.S. active duty military personnel. Quilt Show This Weekend at Mazatzal Hotel & Casino The 12th Annual Rim Country Quilt Roundup opens to the public at 9 a.m., Friday, Oct 14 at the Mazatzal Hotel & Casino event center. The exhibition remains open until 5:30 p.m. on Friday and then reopens from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 15. Admission is $5 per person, with those under 12 admitted for free. Secretary of State's Office Town Hall Meeting The Secretary of State’s Office Town Hall meeting about the General Election ballot propositions is at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 11 at the Payson Messinger Funeral Home, 901 S. Westerly Rd. The meeting is free and open to the public. Voters have two ballot measures in the Nov. 8 General Election — legalizing the purchase of marijuana for all adults from licensed distributors and raising the minimum wage.

Tonto Rim Sports Club hosting free rifle sight-in As hunting season will soon be here, the Tonto Rim Sports Club is hosting a free rifle sight-in from 7 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Sept. 24 at the Jim Jones Shooting Range. Range safety officers will be available to assist with sight-in and/or scope adjustments. To get to the range, on Hwy. 87 go 2.2 miles south of the casino (.3 miles south of Gibson Ranch Road), turn left (east) onto gravel road and then travel 1.5 miles to the entrance. Opry, Fiddlers coming to town The Payson Old Time Opry is Friday, Sept. 23 and features The Purple Hulls, The Western Flyers, The DeRusha Family Band and three-time Arizona State fiddle champion Joseph Turner. Doors of the Payson High Auditorium open at 5:30 p.m., with the performance at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $8 per person at the door, advance tickets can be purchased at the Payson Parks office in Green Valley Park.
Payson Public Library - Talk like a pirate day The Payson Public Library, 328 N. McLane Road, hosts International Talk Like a Pirate Day Monday, Sept. 19. The staff will be dressed in pirate garb and speaking in their best pirate voices. There will be a scavenger hunt with prizes and treasures for kids. Costumes are welcomed.
Fire on the Rim Mountain Bike Race The annual Fire on the Rim Mountain Bike Race is this weekend in Pine. Registration and camping open at noon, Friday, Sept. 16, with the big Italian Feast by Chef Gerardo Moceri and live music that evening; the race is Saturday with additional activities and entertainment; thing wrap up on Sunday.
