Diena Marie Belk

Diena Marie Belk, 69, of Show Low, died Oct. 26, 2009 in Payson. She was born Nov. 10, 1939 in Tucson to William and Alice Fritz.
She spent her life in Tempe, Globe and the Phoenix area until making Payson her home in 1969. After moving to Payson, she and her family ran the Whispering Pines General Store.
Mrs. Belk along with her late husband, Robert “Bob” Belk were instrumental in setting up the EMS system in the Payson and surrounding areas. They took over the ambulance company from the Payson hospital in 1976 and incorporated as Canyon State Ambulance in 1978, which they owned until 2001.
Mrs. Belk is survived by her brother, Bill Fritz of Ogden, Utah; her children, Sherri Boss of Phoenix, Matt Davis of Concho, Arlene Roberts and Chuck Belk, both of Payson; 23 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Belk was preceded in death by her father, William E. Fritz; mother, Alice Davey Humphrey; brother, Louis Fritz; and her husband, Robert Belk.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 6 at Mountain Meadows Memorial Park.
A celebration of life gathering will be held immediately following the service at the Roberts’ home, 713 W. Rim View Road in Payson. Anyone wishing to attend is welcome.
