Yvonne Boynton

Yvonne Boynton, born Aug. 4, 1919 in Berkeley, Calif., died March 2, 2010 in Payson. She was 90 years old.
Mrs. Boynton graduated from the University of California Berkeley in 1942 where she met her husband of 43 years, Claude.
Besides her family, her greatest loves were entertaining and teaching dancing. After a 30-year dancing career, she sold real estate, a profession she worked in actively for 32 years before her retirement.
Mrs. Boynton was very active in her community of Westchester, Calif., where she was honorary sheriff, deputy mayor, honorary mayor and president of the Business and Professional Women’s Club.
For 27 years she originated, organized and ran the Miss Westchester and LA International Airport beauty queen contests. She had been a beauty queen, earning the title of Miss Alameda in 1939, which she represented at the San Francisco World’s Fair.
Mrs. Boynton was predeceased by her parents, George and Mary Keremitsis; her husband, Claude; sister, Irene Susi; brother, Ted Keremitsis; and son-in-law, Vance Rodgers. She is survived by a sister, Marilyn (William) Dickerson; two daughters, Madeline (Richard) Parrott and Pamela Rodgers; four grandchildren, Paula Brown, Keri (Michael) Mossel, Jese and Tyler (Kristine) Rodgers; two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Audrey Mossel; two step-grandchildren, Laurie (Jon) Mower and Daniel Parrott; and two step-great-grandchildren, Dylan Rios and Sierra Mower.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Payson Care Center for all their help, loving care, concern and support. There will be a private Celebration of Life at a later date.
