Paul Franklin Townsend 1919 - 2010
Paul Franklin Townsend was born May 15, 1919 in Lincoln, Neb. He died March 7, 2010. The eighth of eight brothers he ventured to Los Angeles with his father, Andrew, after graduating from Lincoln High, Neb.
He enlisted and pursued a life-long naval career. He served throughout World War II and the Korean War, with 20 years of active duty as chief storekeeper. During this time he was a survivor of the Pearl Harbor attack.
Upon completion of his service, he joined the reserves, giving 10 more years of service. He worked in Los Angeles and Phoenix as a bookkeeper until his retirement in 1982. During his retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife and was an avid sports fan.
Mr. Townsend was married to Ruth Lavern Lippold on Sept. 13, 1943.
He is survived by two of his sons, Stan of Payson and Larry (Aimee) of West Chicago, Ill. Also surviving are five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; and son, Marshall.

Services were held March 11 at Payson Messinger Mortuary, interment was at Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Mesa.
