Raymond Thompson died Nov. 13, 2008. He was born Dec. 31, 1935.
Mr. Thompson came to Arizona from Weiser, Idaho in 1954 and subsequently retired in 2001 from the City of Phoenix, where he worked as a sales tax auditor.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman and hiker in the pursuit of Indian artifacts. He was very active in several civic organizations. He was previously a member of Glendale Masonic Lodge where he served as Worshipful Master in 1999, and Peoria Masonic Lodge where he served as Worshipful Master in 2000. He was currently a member of Payson Masonic Lodge No. 70, where he served as junior warden in 2007-2008. He was active with the Scottish Rite, and served as Master of Kadosh. He was also a member of Ponderosa Chapter No.64, Order of the Eastern Star.
He worshipped at Central Christian Church in Payson, was a proud member of the Marine Corps League where he served as Adjutant, and often went to lunch with the ROMEOs.
He is survived by his wife Lillian (Lucy); sister, Marie Webb of Taylorsville, Utah; two sons, William H. Johnson of Texas and Bill Thompson of Show Low; one daughter, Kathy Tschida of Phoenix; two stepchildren, Cheryl (Andy) Weinberg of Goleta, Calif. and Jami Halstead of Payson; and 10 grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 18 at Payson Masonic Lodge, 200 E. Rancho Road.
