Agnes Lanore Walker Moore died Sept. 27, 2008 in Payson. She was born Feb. 24, 1918 in Newville Township, Ind. to Alvin and Florence Walker. She had a brother Lester and a sister Opal. She went to Caletown School and graduated third in the eighth grade for DeKalb County in 1932 and graduated in 1936 from Springerville High School, again, third in the class.
She married Ira Moore on Sept. 12, 1937 in Lynn, Ind.
They adopted their son, Richard Moore, born June 23, 1943 and passed away on May 21, 1969 of muscular dystrophy. He came to the family on Jan. 14, 1944 and was adopted on Sept. 27, 1944.
The Moores farmed for the first two years of their marriage and then went into the grocery business in Decatur, Ind., and then in St. Joe, Ind.
In 1949, they moved to Phoenix, where they remained in the grocery business. In 1955 they moved to Buckeye, where Mr. Moore worked as a yard maintenance supervisor at Buckeye Elementary School. Mrs. Moore opened her own accounting business and operated it for many years.
The Moores retired and moved to Payson November 1974. Mr. Moore died in 1996 after 59 years of marriage. They were both Christians and taught Sunday School classes.
Mrs. Moore is survived by 12 great nieces and nephews.
A visitation is scheduled at 9 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 4 at First Southern Baptist Church of Payson, 302 S. Ash St., with funeral services starting at 10 a.m.
