Ethel Caroline Powell died Oct. 5, 2008 in Payson. She was born Dec. 9, 1916 in Williford, Ark. to August Christopher Noth and Ida McKinney Noth.
Mrs. Powell was of the Baptist faith. She loved to garden. Her mother-in-law taught her to read with the Bible and the Kansas City Star newspaper.
She is survived by her daughter, Sarah June Frost of Coolidge; son, Donald Lee Powell of Payson; sisters, Fay Johnson of Gorman, Texas and Wanda Hurd of Ettrick, Wis.; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmus Marvin Powell; son, Cristle Eugene Powell; grandson, Elmus Eugene Powell; five sisters and two brothers.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 11 at Messinger Payson Funeral Home, 302 W. Aero Drive.
There will be a visitation from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 10 at the funeral home.
