Larry R. Everhart
June 23, 1942 - November 26, 2009
Larry R. Everhart, 67, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 26, 2009. Larry was born June 23, 1942, in Louisburg, Kan. to Harold and Alice Everhart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, John Jay Everhart; and sister, Coralee Buffa.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan; his brother, Ken (Sherri) Everhart; brother, Danny Elgin; son, Shawn (Lola) Everhart; daughter, Catie (Chris) Everhart; stepdaughters, Ann (Joel) Esra, Sharon (Mike) Sifling and Linda Porter; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Everhart grew up and graduated from high school in Kansas City, Kan. He attended Rockhurst College and served in the U.S. Air Force. He began his real estate career as an agent in Kansas City. As a young man he attended the Missouri School of Auctioneers. He moved from Kansas City to Phoenix in 1971.
Mr. Everhart fell in love with the Rim Country and moved here in 1980. He was self- employed as an independent broker-auctioneer and real estate appraiser and was a member of the Central Arizona Board of Realtors.
He is well known in the Rim Country for his estate and charity auctions, volunteer work and as a reservist with the Gila County Sheriff’s Office. He was a member of the American Legion Post 69, CERT (Citizen Emergency Response Team) and the Kiwanis Club of Zane Grey Country. In 1992 he was recipient of the Payson Man of the Year Award. He loved outdoor activities, especially Roosevelt Lake, where he spent many hours with his family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 1 at Messinger Payson Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 2 at First Southern Baptist Church, 302 S. Ash St., Payson.
