Marcy Lorraine Rogers
Marcy Lorraine Rogers was born and raised in California and was the middle child of five. After attending high school she met her first husband, Bill Haley and moved to Tucson to start their family. Together they had one daughter, Patrece.
After attending college, Mrs. Rogers started an impressive career as a planning and zoning specialist. She worked for Pima County, Mohave County, and the city of Mesa before moving to Payson to work in the town’s community development department.
She instantly fell in love with the people and the community service spirit of Payson. That love and her boundless energy motivated Mrs. Rogers to establish Payson Community Kids, a nonprofit organization focused on helping disadvantaged children in the community. She took great pride in her work, as the community came together to support, mentor, and give love to “Her Kids.”
In 2004, Marcy Rogers was voted Payson’s Woman of the Year.
Born in 2006, her only granddaughter, Gracie Mills, loved to spend time with Grammy — shopping, hiking, and being girls.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by her daughter, Lori; granddaughter, Gracie; father, Morris; sisters, Joyce and Sandy; and brother, Jeff.
“We love you and will always remember your sweet smile and big heart,” writes her family.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 12 at the Payson United Methodist Church, 414 N. Easy St.
