Charles “Chuck” Everett Grone 1920 - 2009
Charles “Chuck” Everett Grone of Star Valley died Feb. 4, 2009, following a short illness. He was born Oct. 8, 1920 in Portsmouth, Ohio.
Mr. Grone lived in Star Valley for more than 30 years.
He worked as an electrician for Arizona Public Service, Southern Pacific Railroad and Revlon.
Mr. Grone enlisted in the Army during World War II.
He was a member of the Payson Rodeo Committee for more than 25 years, Payson American Legion, the Greater Payson Moose Lodge and the Payson Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his sisters, Judy (Chuck) Weiss of Ashland, Ky. and Rebecca (Jerry) Carey of Ironton, Ohio; children, James L. (Patricia) Grone, Janet L. Metz and Jacquelyn L. Ledbetter; grandchildren, Michael L. Metz, Don C. Hensley, Victoria A. (Mario) DiForte, Christine L. Grone, Pamela S. Grone, Barbara J. (Michael) Finn and Brittany L. Carpenter; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may attend a celebration of his life at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, March 1 at the Greater Payson Moose Lodge. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, March 2 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road in Phoenix.
Memorial donations may be made to the “Moose Lodge #852 Scholarship Fund” in memory of Chuck Grone, P.O. Box 894, Payson, AZ 85547.
