Norman Skip Ashby
February 21, 1946 - January 17, 2009
Norman Skip Ashby died Jan. 17, 2009. He was born Feb. 21, 1946 in Phoenix, to Norman Arthur Ashby and Jacqueline Ashby.
Mr. Ashby worked at the Palo Verde Nuclear Plant, and on the Zane Grey Highway and the Woods Canyon Lake Highway. He was a state of Arizona surveyor, a member of the Carpenters Union and he worked for the Forest Service.
Mr. Ashby knew about every stream and lake in Arizona and southern Utah. He loved the outdoors, he was an avid fly fisherman and hunter. He was good at gardening and a great storyteller.
He is survived by his son, Norman Seth Ashby of Payson; sisters, Pamela McDaniel of Payson and Kimberly Byrne of Tonto Basin; brother, Jeffery Morgan Ashby of Gisela; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Danielle Jacqueline Carroll Ashby, she died in infancy; his parents, Norman and Jacqueline Ashby; and his grandparents, Paul and Polly Ashby of Christopher Creek.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 7 at at the Ashby Ranch in Christopher Creek. There will be a potluck dinner.
