Robert Henry De Jong

Robert Henry De Jong, 79, died January 27, 2009. He was born July 16, 1929 to Benjamin R. De Jong and Wilhelmina Gesink De Jong.
Mr. De Jong worked at Fred Harvey Company for 20 years as an accountant and then began a 25-year career at ServiceMaster Company, first as a franchise owner and then joining the corporate office in Downers Grove, Ill.
He was married to Barbara Lou Bremer on June 14, 1951 in Glen Ellyn, Ill.
After retiring from ServiceMaster, he moved with his wife to Scottsdale in 1999 and soon after, they purchased a summer home in Payson.
He was member of the Ponderosa Baptist Church in Payson and a board member of the Payson Pines and the Rosalee Ranch, Scottsdale homeowners associations.
He loved to travel and was happiest when he could be serving others.
In his retirement he prided himself on his many handyman contributions to family and friends.
He had a great sense of humor and was always ready with his latest joke.
Mr. De Jong was a devout man and had a great desire to let others know by his actions how God influenced his life.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, of Payson and Scottsdale; son, Scott (Sheri) De Jong of St. Charles, Ill.; and three grandchildren, Bradley, Alison and Michael De Jong, all of St. Charles, Ill.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 31 at the Ponderosa Baptist Church, 1800 N. Beeline Highway in Payson.
Another memorial service will be held Feb. 4 at the Glen Ellyn Bible Church in Glen Ellyn, Ill.
