Barbara Jones Ryan
Barbara Jones Ryan, 82, died June 23, 2009, in Payson. She was born in Missoula, Mont. to Carl and Ethel Jones, and spent the majority of her life in Montana.
She was married to Lawrence Edward Ryan, also of Montana. Both educators, they worked throughout the state in both teaching and administration, although they spent the majority of that time in both Red Lodge and, finally, in Roberts, where Mr. Ryan served as superintendent and Mrs. Ryan was an English teacher.
They eventually retired to Missoula, Mont. in 1978. Once there, Mrs. Ryan worked as a copy editor for a small publishing company and then as an administrative assistant at the Recovery Foundation.
The Ryans moved to Arizona in 1986 to be closer to their children, settling first in Lake Montezuma for nearly 15 years, and then relocating to Payson in 2002.
Mrs. Ryan is survived by her daughter, Michele Ensign of Payson; and son, Patrick Ryan, currently of Los Angeles, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2002.
In keeping with her wishes, no memorial service will be held. The Ryans’ combined ashes will be interred in the Missoula City Cemetery and also scattered in some of their favorite places ... together in eternity.
Donations may be made to the Feed the Children Foundation or the ASPCA. Any cards or condolences may be sent to 1000 W. Driftwood Dr., Payson, AZ 85541.
