Donald “Don” Shreckengost

Donald “Don” Shreckengost died May 30, 2009 in Payson. He was born Sept. 23, 1926 in Rising City, Neb.
Mr. Shreckengost worked with US Steel in Gary, Ind. for 30 years; Sunkist Corporation for five years; and the U.S. Department of Agriculture at the Sedona Ranger Station for nine years. He also retired from Labours for Christ in 2002.
Mr. Shreckengost served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952 to 1960, seeing action during the Korean conflict.
He was a member of the Shepherd of Pines Lutheran Church of Payson, and he served on several boards for the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
He was a member of U.S. Marine Corps League Rimrock Chapter and a member of the American Legion, Post 69 in Payson.
Mr. Shreckengost was preceded in death by his wife, Adele Homeier Shreckengost; his parents; and five brothers and sisters.
He is survived by a sister, Doris Kindler; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 2 at Shepherd of the Pines, 507 W. Wade in Payson.
