Van Hunter Carlson 1944 - 2009
Van Hunter Carlson, 65, of Eckert, Colo., formerly of Payson, died June 8, 2009 in Delta, Colo.
Mr. Carlson was born April 30, 1944 in Tucson, to the late Emil J. and Dorothy M. Carlson. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1971 as an avionics electronics technician and worked for Qwest Communications until his retirement in 2003.
He married Nancy Lynn Carlson on Dec. 22, 1966 in Withamsville, Ohio. They had two children, Eric and Cynthia. Mr. Carlson was active in the American Legion, American Legion Riders, Knights of Columbus and the Fraternal Order of the Elks.
Mr. Carlson was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, BJ Carlson.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; son, Eric J. Carlson; daughter, Cynthia Carlson (Jim) Bade; five grandchildren, Courtney, Cailyn and Connor Bade, Bryce and Bryanna Carlson; brothers, Keith Carlson and Jon Carlson; and sister, Lianne London.
There will be a funeral Mass June 12 at S. Michael’s Catholic Church in Cedaredge, Colo.
