Dorcas “Dee” B. McDaniels
1936 - 2009
Dorcas “Dee” B. McDaniels, of Payson, died April 27, 2009. She was just shy of 73 years of age. She was born May 2, 1936 in Phoenix, the first daughter of Gilbert and Lois Horton.
She lived in California and North Carolina for a short time, but always felt that Arizona was her home. She went to Phoenix Union High School and was a very talented seamstress. She owned 3-d’s Custom Quilting and created beautiful custom quilts, several of which were auctioned off by the Payson Womans Club.
Mrs. McDaniels is survived by five children, Debra (Roger) Crozier, Deanna (Ron) Swanson, Casey (Joyce) McDaniels, Kelly (Eddie) Schlack of Phoenix and Kassie Hesson of Payson; and one stepson, Joseph McDaniels of California. Also surviving are three siblings, John Horton of Ellensburg, Wash., Dorothy Jeffery and Bertha Harshman, both of Phoenix.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene McDaniels; and one daughter, Kathleen Ann McDaniels.
Mrs. McDaniel enjoyed making quilts and teddy bears for her 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family.
Her family wants to say a special thank you to Payson Hospice for the love and tender care for Mrs. McDaniels. She loved you all and really appreciated the wonderful way Hospice cared for her, the family said.
