Jimmie Elwood Rhodes

Jimmie Elwood Rhodes, 74, of Payson, died Sept. 1, 2009. He was born Aug. 19, 1935 in Tennessee. He lived his young years in Qulin, Mo., moving to Arizona at age 14.
He worked as a farm laborer, foreman and cattle ranch foreman in the Chandler, Tolleson and Chino Valley areas, and then retired to Phoenix. He lived most recently in Payson.
Mr. Rhodes knew Jesus Christ as his savior and let God’s light shine through his eyes and in his life daily. He was a husband, father, son, brother and uncle to his family and a friend to all people he met.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda of Payson; a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Leslie Fogleson of Phoenix; brothers, Tom Jr. and Marie Rhodes and Joe and Betty Rhodes, both of Phoenix; and many nieces and nephews.
His mother Ruby, father Tom, and a younger brother Jesse preceded him in death.
All who knew Jim will miss him greatly.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 3 at Messinger Payson Funeral Home, 302 W. Aero in Payson.
