Jean L. Toot, 64, of Heber, passed away Aug. 11, 2010 at Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low. She was born Feb. 15, 1946 in Kansas City, Mo. to Bryon and Nellie Pooler. She was raised in Missouri and Ladysmith and Tony, Wis.
She moved to Sunnyslope at age 15 and attended Paradise Valley High School. She graduated from Payson High School in 1964. She was married to George Toot on Feb. 29, 1964 in Payson. After a year in Payson, the couple moved to California, spending six months in Redding before moving to Phoenix in 1966.
Mrs. Toot worked for 25 years for Valley National Bank in Phoenix, which became Bank One, retiring in 1998. Following retirement, the couple came to Heber where Mrs. Toot worked for National Bank of Arizona in Overgaard and Frontier Bank (Community), retiring two years ago.
She was of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed gardening, reading and visiting with her children and grandchildren and taking care of her family.
Survivors include her husband, George; a daughter, Donna Jean Smith and husband Kevin of Austin, Texas; two sons, George Toot Jr. and wife Julie of Queen Creek and John Toot and wife Teresa of Phoenix; two brothers, Bryon Pooler of Eau Claire, Wis. and Frank Pooler of Tony, Wis.; eight sisters, Carolyne Tate of Gilman, Wis., Doris McFarland of Exland, Wis., Margo Emmert of Florence, Janie Oliver of Florence, Shirley Piper of Stevens Point, Wis., Pamela Willoughby of Bruce, Wis., Naomi Oosting of Michigan and Toni Rinehart of Selma, Ala.; and 10 grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Aug. 15 at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 3048 Highway 277 in Overgaard.
