Howard Ervin Griffith
1929 - 2010
Howard Ervin Griffith died Jan. 10, 2010. He was born Dec. 17, 1929 in Acme N.M. and raised in northeastern New Mexico for most of his life.
He came to Phoenix in 1941 where he met and married Wanda Maxine White in 1949.
Mr. Griffith worked as an independent landscaper and the couple had three children, Keith of Anchorage, Alaska, Duane and Wade, both of Gisela.
The Griffiths moved to Gisela March 28, 1978 where Mr. Griffith worked for Individeo TV, maintaining the cable service to the area for many years.
He was a prominent leader in the development of the Gisela community. He was a founding member of the Gisela Fire Department and active in other community activities. In 1984 he began leading the Tonto Valley Bible Church, where he served for the next 10 years until his retirement.
In December, Mr. Griffith celebrated his 80th birthday and 60th anniversary with his wife, Maxine.
He leaves behind his wife, Maxine; three sons, Keith, Duane and Wade; Keith’s wife, Linda; two grandsons, Evan Eugene and Kevin Nathaniel; one great-grandson, Eli; and many other loving family members and friends.
Memorial services were held Jan. 14 at Tonto Valley Bible Church, Gisela.
